Merry Christmas!

"My Christmas Wish for You"

My Christmas wish for you, my child
Is not a simple one
For I wish you hope and joy and peace
Days filled with warmth and sun
I wish you love and friendship too
Throughout the coming year
Lots of laughter and happiness
To fill your world with cheer
May you count your blessings, one by one
And when totaled by the lot
May you find all you've been given
To be more than what you sought
May your journeys be short, your burdens light
May your spirit never grow old
May all your clouds have silver linings
And your rainbows pots of gold
I wish this all and so much more
May all your dreams come true
Have a Merry Christmas my baby girl
And a happy New Year, too!

My baby girl is 1!

I'm really not sure whether to cry or be happy. Ashley's first year of life has been such a wonderful journey for me. I've watched her grow and learn all of these new things, all the while thinking, "She's MY baby." She has enabled me to become such a proud Mommy. I think that she is so smart and full of her own little "spunky" (and sometimes mischevious) personality. She is the light of my life and I love her more than I could ever type down here. I just want to wish my little angel a happy first birthday.

I love you, Ashley!

Ashley's First Birthday Party Slideshow 2

Happy Birthday to my little Angel

Ashley and Santa

Ashley got to sit in Santa's lap this past weekend. She took to him quite well, not a tear! She was more concerned with making sure her paci was in her mouth at all times!

Ashley's First Birthday

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

First of all, let me apologize for not keeping everyone up to date with pictures and events. We have been so busy lately that I've barely had time to breathe, much less sign on and blog. We had our annual Christmas get-together with the Curry side of the family on Dec. 8th. It was great. Good food, good company and good fun! Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Mommy and Daddy's new jobs

Chet and I started our new jobs over the last three weeks. Chet is now at BAE Systems on second shift. Ashley seems to have acclimated to sleeping in and he takes her to Momaw's house when she wakes up. I am working at the CDP now and am learning the ropes. My first day was this past Monday.

Ashley had her second of two flu shots on Tuesday and, of course, it's made her sick. She's got the sniffles and is throwing up. The same exact thing happened when she got the first shot, but according to the on call nurse "it's not a side effect of the shot because that would have happened immediately". Whatever! I know that she was fine BEFORE the shot and the night she got it, she was throwing up.

Just wanted to drop a line and let everyone know that I've not forgotten about the blog, just trying to adjust to our new schedules. We'll try to post some pics after our big Christmas get-together at Grandmommie's and Uncle Donald's this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Ashley being a little dare-devil. She doesn't even realize that she may not be able to figure out how to get out from under the high-chair without bumping her head, but isn't she precious!!!

We would like to wish everyone a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. Eat lots of turkey!!!

Big bad boo-boo!

Stephanie came over Friday night to take our Christmas photos and Ashley had her first major boo boo. She bashed her mouth into the metal/slate tile end table and tore that little piece of skin that connects her lip to her gum on the inside of her mouth. It bled and she screamed and I almost fainted and had a nervous break-down. Had Stephanie not been there with all of her RN knowledge, I probably would have wound up taking her to the hospital. It was the first time she's ever bled except for during shots. It broke my heart completely.

Thank you Aunt Stephanie for helping me through my first injury!

Uh-Oh, Spaghetti-O, I'm #1!

Ashley was a sick girl over the weekend and had to go to the doctor after running fever, coughing, sneezing, snotting and whining all day and night Saturday. She was diagnosed with a bacterial infection and given a shot of antibiotics, as well as a baby liquid z-pack and some stuff for cough and congestion. She is much better today, though I had to keep her home yesterday. We did have a couple of things happen while we were home together. She started pointing up to the ceiling and holding her index finger up when asked "Who's number one?" I'll try to get a picture of this soon to post.

Last night we also added the phrase "spaghetti-o" to her vocabulary of the word "uh-oh", which she says quite a bit, most often just before she throws something in the floor. It doesn't come out sounding like spaghetti-o, but we know that's what she's trying to say. It mostly sounds like "uh-oh, deedeeya", but it is SO CUTE!!!

Almost walking

Ashley started walking with her push along toy this past weekend. I'll try to get pictures soon, of course, it will look like she's just standing up holding on to it. That's really nothing new, but EVERYONE will know by the post that she was really walking!!!

Trick or Treat!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween. Punky's first was quite the adventure. She lasted about an hour and 15 minutes and then the teething proved to be too much for my little ballerina. She started throwing up and that doesn't mix well with a tutu! We had to go home early and give her some teething tablets, a touch of Tylenol and some sleepy-time! Here are some pictures below, but I wasn't actually able to get any while we were trick-or-treating because it was so dark. Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!!!!!!

We just want to wish everyone a happy and safe Halloween. Ashley will be going for her first trick or treating excursion tonight with her cousins, Brent and Jason, dressed as a beautiful ballerina. I'll post pictures of her big, cold adventure tomorrow!

Til then, be safe and get lots of candy!!!

How long before Ashley will walk???

First of all, we want to congratulate cousin Brent and his football team for a 22-7 victory over Lineville-they remain UNDEFEATED and are going to the championship!!! We would also like to wish Papa Bud a happy birthday!

Will Ashley be walking soon??? I think so!!! As you can see below, she's pulling up on EVERYTHING and has even stood for a few seconds without holding on to anything. I'm so excited, but at the same time realize that my baby is slowly becoming a little girl...Speaking of, she went for her flu shot today, as well as a weight check. She weighed 18 lbs and 15 oz and was 29" long. So, in six weeks, she gained 1 lb. and 3.5 oz. and grew a whole inch! She is now in the 25th percentile in weight and just above the 50th percentile in height. She's getting to be a big girl!

We want to also congratulate Jimmie Johnson on yet ANOTHER victory in Atlanta yesterday. Here is a picture of Ashley and Jason at our brand new Lowe's store, driving the Jimmie Johnson #48 buggy!

Ashley also had fun in the bathtub with her new Froggy toys that Mimi brought her while she was here. She is saying so many new words: Maw-Maw (her babysitter), TV, love you, baby and puppy. She also finally got the hang of feeding herself finger-foods and actually getting them into her mouth! She got this help from cousin Jason, as they shared cereal/puffs Saturday afternoon.

I know, I know... It's not even Halloween yet and we've got our house decorated for Christmas! That's what we did this weekend because my best friend (the photographer), Stephanie Arnold (stephaniearnoldphotography.com) is coming this Friday night to take our family Christmas photos at our house, so I didn't have a choice... It was exhausting and I'm glad it's over!! Now, all we have left to do is the outside, but we didn't want the neighbors to think we were TOTALLY crazy, so we'll wait 'til Thanksgiving to do that part!

Ashley's first Fall Festival

We had so much fun last night at Punky's first Fall Festival. Our church does it every year and it was a great turn-out last night. There are some pictures below of Ashley (didn't dress her up because I'm not finished with her costume yet) and Jason (Pablo from the Backyardigans). There are no pictures of Brent as he was too busy chasing a little "cheerleader" around. Besides, he's officially "too old to dress up!" Looking back, I think someone had to TELL me I was too old to dress up and go trick-or-treating!

When we got home, Ashley had a dirty diaper, so I cleaned her up and instead of putting another diaper on her, I just let her go au natural because it was almost bath time~isn't she so cute with her little naked butt?? I just couldn't resist these shots!!!
